Transforming Grief into Glass
We lost our only child who was an artist in many mediums. Together Mark and I discovered glass artistry and every piece is a tribute and celebration of Jess. We work mostly together each bringing different strengths however, for this show we have worked separately.
We work from the beautiful Whitianga, Coromandel in our purpose built studio over looking all of Buffalo Beach.
We mainly work with glass but have developed other mediums that support the display of our art works. For example sanding, shaping and oiling of wood, wire wrapping, beading, drilling and gluing.
We work with a kiln using 90 & 96 COE glass from USA.
We use a torch to lampwork glass 104 COE glass from Murano Italy lampworking beads, with a torch.
Glass beads are made with a torch, wire is wrapped on a frame which is glued into NZ Macrocarpa that has been shaped, sanded and oiled then the beads are attached in a pattern.
